Avoiding a difficult decision does not prevent it from shaping the organisation. When leaders postpone necessary action, tolerate damaging behaviour or leave important problems unresolved, the team carries the consequences. Strong executive leadership requires the courage to make timely, defensible decisions and remain accountable for what follows.

Pressure can build resilience, sharpen focus and lift performance, but only when it has a purpose and an end. Strong leaders recognise when to push, when to share the load and when their people need space to recover.
